At Bradshaw Primary School, our ethos is deeply rooted in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every individual is celebrated for who they are. We believe in cultivating values that not only shape our children academically but also prepare them to become compassionate and responsible members of society.

In 2023 we undertook a project to review our school values, we spoke to the children, parents, staff, and governors and finalised our five values.

Whilst at Bradshaw Primary we want our children to be:

  • Kind  - Kindness is at the heart of everything we do. We encourage our children to show empathy and consideration towards others, fostering a supportive community where everyone feels valued and respected.

  • Honest  - Honesty is paramount at our school. We encourage open and honest communication, instilling in our children the importance of truthfulness, integrity and accountability in all their actions.

  • Respectful - We uphold a culture of respect where all members of our school community, including children, staff, parents, and visitors, treat each other with dignity and courtesy. Respect for oneself, others, and the environment is fundamental to our ethos.

  • Responsible  - We empower our children to take ownership of their learning and actions, teaching them to be responsible citizens both within the school and in the wider community. Through promoting responsibility, we nurture independence and resilience in our students.

  • Active  - We believe in the importance of an active lifestyle for physical and mental well-being. We encourage our students to embrace physical activity and adopt healthy habits that promote a balanced and active lifestyle.

Our IDEAS curriculum helps the children to develop these values, as do our assemblies, that also highlight British Values, the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child and the Protected Characteristics.

Children in Key Stage 2 take on leadership roles that link directly into these values – helping them to understand them and promote them across the school. Each of these teams leads on one value. They meet up twice a term to work on specific projects to help make the school a better place for us all and to develop themselves as young citizens.

"Proud of who we are, proud of what we achieve"

We foster a positive and hardworking approach to learning, empowering our children to become confident and successful individuals. Our motto, "Proud of who we are, proud of what we achieve," encapsulates our commitment to celebrating the unique strengths and accomplishments of each member of our school community.
