Mr Short’s Weekly Message

Dear Parents

This week has seen the children really getting into their work, they have had chance to get to settle into their new class and are now able to show us what they have remembered from last year and also how well they are able to cope with the new expectations and work. Our Reception class have had their first full week and enjoyed their lunchtimes with their buddies from Year 6.

I was able to hand out badges to our new House Captains, Prefects and Librarians too today, as well as announce the other roles that the Year 6 children will take on this year. All the roles are important and help the staff in different ways. These responsibilities are ones that we feel the Year 6 children have the maturity to take on board and is one way in which we prepare them for the next stage of their education journey.

We hope that you all have a great weekend and the children come back in on Monday ready for another busy week.

Thank you for your continued support.

C Short

Healthy Snacks

A reminder that we are nut free school - please make sure that any food sent into school does not contain any nuts or traces of nuts.

We have also noticed that a number of children are bringing in snacks that are not healthy choices. Please can you ensure that your child's snack is healthy such as:

  • Vegetable sticks – such as celery, cucumber, peppers or carrot, a range of colour ensures different vitamins and minerals.
  • A piece of cheddar cheese or babybel
  • A piece of fresh or dried fruit, high in soluble fibre and vitamins would also be a great snack– pineapple, mango, kiwi, plain raisins, apricots, blueberries, banana slices.
  • Bread sticks, plain pretzels, banana bread, malt loaf, oat/rice cakes and small pitta breads are also good snacks, providing children with carbohydrate to sustain them in-between meals.
  • Homemade snack - flapjacks or other oat/whole grain based snack. These must be nut free. Items brought into school should be carefully checked by you, to ensure this. Bradshaw has pupils who are severely allergic to a range of nuts.

Wellbeing

The children are just starting on a new series of lessons called My Happy Mind. For more information look here: https://myhappymind.org/

Things to Remember:

  • Please make sure there is enough money on your child’s Parentpay account to cover their toast and school dinners.
  • Please contact the school office if your child is going to be absent from school.
  • Any bout of sickness or diarrhoea has to have a 48 hour absence after the last episode.
