Mr Short’s Weekly Message

Dear Parents

Welcome back to another hectic half term. The children have started this week really well and there has been lots of learning taking place. On Wednesday the children in Key Stage 2 took part in their first Leadership Group sessions. These groups are linked into the school values and provide the children with the chance to help promote those values to the rest of the school. The groups have different focuses:

Active Leadership Group - these are our play leaders, they will help to lead games at break times and promote healthy lifestyles.

Kind Leadership Group - this group looks at how we can support everyone's wellbeing in a number of ways.

Honest Leadership Group - the children in the group look at anti-bullying, behaviour and how we treat each other.

Respect Leadership Group - how we can look after the envrionment in school and into the wider community and beyond.

Responsible Leadership Group - these are our school councillors, they look into ways in which we can improve the school.

One of the first tasks undertaken by the Honest LG was to prepare for Anti-bullying week, which takes place next week, one way in which we are marking this week is by having an 'Odd Socks Day' on Monday 13th November. This is to celebrate that we are all different and unique.

We took delivery of new sets of whole class reading books this week, they are wonderful, exciting texts that the children will be working on in their classes moving forward. These books have been donated by the PTA. As well as this they have covered the cost of the coaches to Chester Zoo in three week's time. We are very lucky to have them supporting the school and we wanted to say another big thank you for all their hard work.

The PTA are collecting Christmas Jumpers again this year, so if you have any jumpers that the children have grown out of please drop them off in box in the entrance to school and they can be reused.

A reminder that we have the photographers in next Friday (27th), they will be taking individual photos of the children and also family groups. Further information will be sent out at the beginning of next week.

Thank you for your continued support.

WELLBEING

The Kind Leadership Group spent their first session this week looking at what Wellbeing meant - they decided it was when people have a feeling of being comfortable, happy and healthy. They realised this could change at different times and different situations, but there were things that we can all do to help us deal with situations when we feel less comforatable, happy and healthy. The group is currently working on a display to inform the rest of the school what they have found out so far.

Healthy Lifestyles

Did you know less than half of the children in the UK walk to school?

Things to Remember:

Please make sure there is enough money on your child’s Parentpay account to cover their toast and school dinners.

Is the snack you are sending into school healthy? Please ensure that the children do not have crisps, chocolate bars etc for their snack. And nothing containing nuts.

Please contact the school office if your child is going to be absent from school.

Any bout of sickness or diarrhoea has to have a 48 hour absence after the last episode.
